Passport For Indian Nationals


Welcome to the Passport Seva at Indian Embassies and Consulates. Only Indians living abroad are eligible to apply for Passport Services using Passport Seva System under the jurisdiction of the respective Indian Missions (Embassy/High Commission/Consulate) abroad.


  1. Procedure

(a) Visit the Passport Seva website for online Indian Passport application:

https://mportal.passportindia.gov.in/mission/ (Click on Applicant Login)

Note: Indian Passport Applicants, while filling up online application, need to please note the following:

a) Citizen of India by :
i) Birth (if you are born in India and your parents are Indian citizens)
ii) Descent (if you are born outside India and your parents are Indian citizens)

b) Passport printable address details: Please write your address in India.
c) Other address details: Please write your address in Botswana

(b)  In order to apply for an Indian Passport and filling up the application online, please Register by creating an account therein and move forward on the website to complete the online part of the application.

Please Note: Only ICAO Compliant Photographs will be accepted for submission of passport applications. Please click here for ICAO guidelines."

(c)  Once done, take a print, sign in blue or black ink and visit HCI Gaborone along with supporting documents between 9.00 am and 12.00 noon on High Commission's working days.

(d) Applications will be checked at the High Commission's counter and the applicant will be requested to deposit the fee. A Receipt for the fee will be issued in the name of the applicant.

Note: In case of renewal of passport applications, it is mandatory to submit the original passport along with the passport application (Click Here). The original cancelled passport will be returned with the new passport booklet.

(e) Once the Passport is ready for collection, applicant will be informed and the Passport can be obtained from the High Commission upon production of the receipt issued by HCI Gaborone.

3. Check list for the documents required for re-issue of Passport

A. Applicants (18 years of age & above) : 

  1. Print of duly-filled online Indian Passport Application Form
  2. Two passport-size recent colour photographs with white background (35 mm × 45 mm (width × height) with the face covering 70-80% of the photo. For online application uploads, the digital resolution should be 630 × 810 pixels)
  3. Current passport in original along with self-attested copies of the same (first & last page)
  4. Copy of Residence Permit and Work permit for Botswana
  5. Self-attested copy of Proof of Address (if there is a change)

B. For Minor Applicants (up to 18 years of age)

  1. Print of duly-filled online Indian Passport Application Form
  2. Two passport-size recent colour photographs with white background (35 mm × 45 mm (width × height) with the face covering 70-80% of the photo. For online application uploads, the digital resolution should be 630 × 810 pixels)
  3. Current passport in original along with self-attested copies of the same (first & last page)
  4. Copy of Residence Permit for Botswana

  6. Copies of parents' Residence Permit and Work Permit for Botswana

C. For New Born Children

  1. Print of duly-filled online Indian Passport Application Form

  3. Copy of Birth Certificate Apostilled by the Ministry of International Affairs and Cooperation of the Government of Botswana
  4. Self-attested copy of Marriage Certificate of parents
  5. Self-attested copies of current passports of parents (first & last page)
  6. Copies of parents' Residence Permit and Work Permit for Botswana
  7. Self-attested copy of Proof of Address (if there is a change)

Note:

(a) To obtain an Indian Passport for a new-born child, it is essential to first register the child at https://indiancitizenshiponline.nic.in/Home2.aspx?formcode=09 for obtaining the Indian nationality, within one year of the birth of the child.

(b) To get a child registered as an Indian national, at least one of the child's parents must be an Indian citizen.

D. For Lost/Damaged Indian Passport

  1. Print of duly-filled online Indian Passport Application Form
  2. Two passport-size recent colour photographs with white background (35 mm × 45 mm (width × height) with the face covering 70-80% of the photo. For online application uploads, the digital resolution should be 630 × 810 pixels)
  3. Police Report in original
  4. Self-attested copy of lost/damaged passport (first & last page)
  5. Letter from the current employer on company letterhead establishing the employment and identity status of the applicant (FORMAT).
